Interview Submission for The Art of Succession

I've replaced my pre-interview call with this simple form you can use to tell me a little more about the purpose you see in sharing your succession story. I use this as part of my research before the show begins so we can have a more impactful discussion.

My CPA firm, GWCPA, focuses on accounting and succession planning for multi-generational businesses. My intent with this Youtube podcast is to spotlight the courageous and often unheralded work of you, the business successor. Titled "The Art of Succession", the interviews will be posted on youtube.com/@artofsuccession and on audio podcast platforms.

Our audience is twofold: Business owners looking to pass along their business and avoid some of the pitfalls, and employees in the process of stepping into ownership and learning what it takes to lead an established business.

Our primary goal for the show, in my interviews with buyers, is as to get to the root of Why did you buy a business rather than build one, and what has that foundation enabled you to do? I firmly believe most people would be better served buying an existing small business rather than build one from scratch, and I want to illustrate that through your stories.

Occasionally, I will also interview a seller, and our discussion will center around How they came to identify their buyer, and the mental and actual process of separating themselves from their business and moving forward with their next steps.

One key part of the show for our next Season is that the guest presents a specific situation they're wrestling through (future services, understanding their numbers, hiring/firing, etc) and we work through that together on air. If you can't think of something right now, we'll check in before pressing record.

At the conclusion of the show, I will check with you to see if there was anything said you want to retract or edit (e.g. something that might be under NDA or damaging to a family relationship). But I'd prefer to stay away from it entirely if we can.
