Arise Self Defense Club // Digital Waiver Please read carefully
Thanks for registering for our weekly Friday night classes! Whether you’re coming for one class or many, I am excited to share empowerment self-defense strategies with you during our time together and grow our community.
Our classes aim to empower you with valuable skills for personal safety, confidence, and self-awareness. While I am passionate about the benefits of these classes, I want to ensure that you are well-informed about the nature of the activities and associated risks.
This waiver outlines some of the risks associated with learning self-defense and must be filled out by participants and parents/caregivers for participants under the age of 18yrs.
If you have questions or would like more information about Arise and our programs, please visit www.ariseprograms.com or contact me, Jess at [email protected].
Associated Risks and Safety Measures
Approach: Empowerment Self-Defense combines interactive discussions, games, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu-based self-defense to engage participants in meaningful and empowered learning around violence prevention and confidence building.
Physical Contact and Minor Injuries: Due to the physical nature of self-defense training with other participants, activities might result in minor injuries such as bruises, redness, falls, or scrapes. Instructors will guide participants to ensure proper technique, always seeking consent before any physical touch.
Emotional Safety: We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all participants. Emotional safety is a priority, and you are encouraged to participate at your own pace. If at any point you feel uncomfortable, please communicate with the instructor.
Misuse/Error: While we provide essential skills for self-protection and confidence, we cannot guarantee 100% effectiveness in all real-world situations due to the limited time of training and the nuance of everyday life/conflict.
Participant Responsibility
Health and Wellness: It is recommended that participants consult a healthcare provider if they have any existing injuries or medical conditions that could be affected by physical activity. By signing this waiver, you confirm that you are physically and emotionally fit to participate in this training.
Personal Responsibility and Risk: Participants acknowledge their responsibility to listen to their bodies, follow instructions, and avoid movements or actions that feel uncomfortable. Participation is entirely voluntary, and individuals accept all risks associated with the physical activities involved.
Cancellation Policy
Life happens, I totally get it! If you can no longer make it, please cancel or reschedule at least 12 hours in advance so we can offer your spot to someone else. No-shows or cancellations within 12 hours are not refundable or transferable unless it’s an emergency.
We look forward to seeing you at the next session! Feel free to arrive a few mins early. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water, we'll provide a few snacks.
Take care,
Jess
