2027 Salt Lake City Smuttastic Book Fair 📚✨

We are so excited to officially open applications for our first-ever TWO-DAY Salt Lake City Smuttastic Book Fair!

After welcoming thousands of readers to our Salt Lake City book fairs, we’re taking things to the next level in 2027 with our biggest Salt Lake City event yet.

Join us for an entire weekend of books, authors, shopping, panels, brand experiences, and all things bookish at the Utah State Fairpark in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Our previous Salt Lake City book fairs have typically welcomed approximately 2,000–3,000 attendees per event, and with an expanded two-day format, additional vendors, author programming, and experiences planned for 2027, we’re excited to continue growing the event.

Event Details

Event Dates: Saturday, October 16 & Sunday, October 17, 2027

Approximate Event Hours: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM both days

Vendor Setup: Friday, October 15, 2027

Location: Utah State Fairpark — Salt Lake City, Utah

Event Format: Indoor, two-day book fair

Standard Vendor Space: Approximately 10' × 10'

Booth Price: $350 (for both days)

Vendors must participate for both Saturday and Sunday
No early takedowns are permitted
Booth fees are nonrefundable

Event and setup hours are currently approximate and may be adjusted as we get closer to the event.

Vendor Booths & Displays

Standard vendor spaces will be approximately 10' × 10'.

Tables, chairs, linens, and booth furnishings are NOT included with your booth. Vendors are responsible for providing everything needed for their setup, including tables, chairs, tablecloths, signage, displays, products, and décor.

Table and chair rentals may be available for an additional fee for vendors who prefer to rent rather than bring their own.

Because this is an indoor event, 10' × 10' tents and canopies are not permitted.

Each vendor will be required to incorporate a professional, freestanding backdrop or booth divider into their setup to help visually define individual vendor spaces and create a more polished shopping experience.

Examples may include freestanding fabric backdrops, grid walls, modular display walls, branded walls, pipe-and-drape-style displays, or other professional freestanding structures.

Additional examples and booth guidelines will be provided prior to the event.

The Smuttastic Book Fair brings together readers, authors, creators, and businesses for an immersive celebration of books and reading.

We welcome applications from:

Romance, romantasy, fantasy & other authors
Independent authors & publishers
Bookish merchandise & accessories
Kindle/e-reader accessories
Bookmarks, stationery & stickers
Art & illustrations
Jewelry & accessories
Apparel
Candles & home goods
Self-care, beauty & lifestyle businesses
Gifts & novelty products
Reader-inspired products
Brands interested in creating interactive experiences
Other unique businesses that complement our audience and event

You do not have to exclusively sell bookish products to apply. However, preference may be given to businesses whose products, branding, or experience align strongly with our audience.

Our vendor lineup is intentionally curated, and we may limit the number of vendors accepted within individual product categories.

Application & Acceptance

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with our first round of early acceptances beginning in October 2026.

Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance.

If you are not selected during an early acceptance round, your application may remain under consideration for future rounds or be added to our vendor waitlist.

Accepted vendors will receive additional information regarding booth payment, deadlines, event requirements, setup, and participation.

Food & Beverage Vendors

We are accepting applications from food and beverage businesses interested in participating in the event.

Please note that outdoor food and beverage vendors must be contracted directly through the Utah State Fairpark and will be subject to the Fairpark's required fees and/or percentage of sales.

You are still welcome to submit your application through this form. If selected, our team will connect you with the appropriate Fairpark contact to complete the required contracting process.

Author Panels

For the first time, we are expanding our programming to include author panels and conversations throughout the weekend!

Authors applying to the book fair will have the opportunity to indicate whether they are interested in participating in a panel. Panel participation is not guaranteed and will be curated separately based on topics, genres, availability, and programming needs.

Brand Activations & Experiences

We're also looking for brands and businesses interested in going beyond a traditional vendor booth and creating an interactive activation or experience for attendees.

This could include a craft, customization station, photo opportunity, mini service, interactive activity, sampling experience, reader activity, sponsored lounge, or another creative concept.

We're especially interested in experiences that can be offered complimentary or at a low cost to attendees and give your brand an opportunity to connect directly with thousands of readers in a memorable way.

Giveaways & Swag

We will have opportunities for accepted vendors and participating brands to contribute products, gift cards, samples, or other items to event giveaways, raffles, and/or attendee swag.

Acknowlegement for Food and Beverage Vendors

Outdoor food and beverage vendors are welcome to apply through this application. Please note that outdoor food and beverage vendors must be contracted directly through the Utah State Fairpark. The Fairpark may collect a percentage of sales and/or require additional fees. If your application is accepted, our team will connect you directly with the Fairpark to complete their required contracting process.

Photo Acknowledgement *

By uploading photos of your products or booth setup, you confirm you own or have rights to the images and grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use them in promoting the event across social media, email, our website, and print materials. We'll credit your business wherever possible. You can request removal at any time by contacting us.
