Join us at the Get Your Feet Wet/ Water Testing Workshop
š Curious about what's happening beneath the surface of our local lakes? Join us for "Get Your Feet Wet: A Water Testing Workshop" on April 1st from 6-7pm at the MCD Office in Lake City!
Our Watershed Technician, Hannah Lopinski, will lead this hands-on evening where you'll learn how she tests real water samples and discover what the results tell us about water health in Missaukee County.
This FREE workshop is perfect for lakefront property owners, lake association members, and anyone who loves our local waters. Space is limitedāregistration required!
What You'll Experience:
Water Chemistry Explained
You'll watch an actual water chemistry test performed on samples Hannah collected from local Missaukee County lakes, testing for the same things Hannah checks on her site visits - and learn what those numbers actually mean for our water quality. Hannah will show you exactly what she does and help you understand what you're seeing.
Discover your Shoreline Power
If you own lakefront property (or dream of it someday), you'll learn practical ways to protect your investment while helping your lake stay healthy. Hannah will share simple, actionable steps that make a real difference - from native plantings that prevent erosion to managing runoff that carries nutrients into the water.
See Restoration in Action
Get an exclusive look at the Hopkins Creek Restoration project - a collaborative effort that's transforming a local stream that feeds into the Upper Manistee Watershed. Hannah will share before-and-after photos, explain what's working, and show you how small changes upstream create big impacts downstream.
