As professional cat sitters, our schedules can be a bit like a curious cat: flexible, unpredictable, and always full of surprises! While some team members may eventually build up to a nearly full-time cat-care schedule, this role is best suited as a source of supplemental income rather than your primary job, at least initially. You're in the middle of a series of in-home visits with a sweet kitty while her family is away. During today's visit, you notice that one of her paws looks red and slightly irritated. She is walking normally and still seems comfortable, playful, and interested in her usual routine, but it is something you believe her family should know about. What exact message would you send to the client? Purr-haps a Bigger Problem 🐾 When you arrive for your next in-home cat-sitting visit, you notice that the same kitty's paw is now significantly more irritated. It is red, swollen, and appears as though it may require veterinary attention. You messaged the client after the previous visit but have not received a response. The kitty is still being a little trooper, but you are concerned about the change. What would you do next? Walk us through your next steps, including: how you would assess and document the situation without attempting to diagnose it; any follow-up messages you would send to the client; when and how you would contact the Pink Paws & Purrs Cat Care management team; what decisions you would make if you still could not reach the client; and how you would follow the client's veterinary release and emergency-care instructions.
