  • Conduct a pre-hike briefing on trail conditions, safety, and group rules.

  • Ensure participants wear suitable clothing, sturdy shoes, hats, and sunscreen.

  • Carry sufficient water, snacks, and encourage hydration breaks.

  • Provide insect repellent and encourage use before hiking.

  • Ensure staff are positioned at the front and back of the group to prevent separation.

  • Carry a first-aid kit and ensure staff are first-aid trained.

  • Collect emergency contact and medical details (e.g., asthma, allergies) prior to the excursion.

  • Monitor weather forecasts and have a contingency plan (e.g., reschedule in case of extreme heat or storms).

  • Maintain safe transport arrangements, with head counts before departure and return.
