SalsaFest Challenge 2022

TIME: 7:00 - 7:45am, 8:00 a.m. mandatory chefs meeting: 11:00 a.m. judging begins & Salsa challenge tent opens for tasting by public. Winners announced at 2:00 p.m. at The Main Stage.

DATE: September 24th at the City of Safford Town Square

Pre-register before September 13th discounted fee: $15.00

FEE: $25.00 per entry includes 1 table, 2 chairs, a SalsaFest t-shirt, and 2 entry bracelets for salsa tent. Maximum of 2 entries per contestant accepted. Maximum of 2 entries per contestant accepted.

About the contest: Pre-registration is required for all contestants, deadline Tuesday September 20, 2021. No entries accepted on contest day. Contest will be a blind taste test by the judges. Contest will be capped at 24 contestants.

Prizes awarded for the Judges choice winner (the best of the best) receives $1000.00 cash prize!

What you'll need to do....

All ingredients must be prepared on site at the event. Canned ingredients are acceptable including tomatoes, tomato sauce, chilies, onions, garlic, salt, lime and various spices. All food supplies must be purchased from an approved source, i.e. grocery store. Please bring proof of purchases. No home grown or prepared. No canned or jarred salsa. There shall be no eating, drinking or smoking in the food preparation area. Hand washing station will be on site, accessible and set up for contestants use. There will also be a separate washing station for cooking utensils and equipment. Bare hand contact with ready to eat foods is not permitted. We will provide gloves. Each contestant must prepare 5 gallons of salsa. Details on shade, Health Dept. rules, etc., will follow in your email entry acknowledgment.
