Collect mandatory legal + payroll information before entry.

Enter legal name, SSN, birthday, and contact info
Upload W-4 and I-9 forms to their profile
Set hourly rate or salary
Select correct workers’ comp code (WA required)
Tip: Mark whether they are a W-2 employee vs a subcontractor (1099).
Configure Wage Types & Accounting Mapping
This ensures labor costs go to the correct job + report category.

Include: Regular, Overtime, Sick Pay (WA law), Bonuses
Under Accounting, map wages to Cost of Goods Sold → Direct Labor

Track Job Hours Accurately for Profitability
Every hour must be tied to a job to calculate true profit.
