CANCELLATION: The full fee will be charged if forty-eight hours’ notice is not given for cancellation or for a non-arrival.
LATE OR EARLY ARRIVAL: Sessions will start and finish on time. If you arrive early, please wait for your appointment time in the online waiting room. If you are late for an appointment, I will attempt to offer the best possible service within the time left. However, the appointment will end at the agreed time with no adjustment to the fee.
CONFIDENTIALITY: All communication taking place during therapy is confidential, subject to certain provisions. I am not at liberty to withhold information from the courts. I may be ethically required to breach confidentiality if there is a possibility that you or another person is at risk of serious harm or for the prevention, detection or prosecution of a serious crime. Parts of your conversation may be referred to during clinical supervision, a requirement for registered therapists, although your name or any identifying details would not be disclosed.
GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION: As required by Law I am registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and I endeavour to abide by their guidelines. The personal information that I hold will be kept securely according to ICO guidelines. I will keep information on file (hard copy and computer) for eight years and then destroy it securely according to ICO guidelines. You are entitled to a copy of any of your records upon request. You have the right to withdraw consent to me holding any of your information. I am subject to the ICO’s complaints procedures. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PRIVACY NOTICE for further details. Your signature at the end of this form indicates your agreement to this privacy policy.
GUARANTEES & MEDICAL TREATMENT: There are a number of complex factors influencing the success of individual therapy and, whilst benefits are typically observed in the majority of cases, results vary between individual clients and there can be no guarantees of cure or success in relation to a condition or its treatment. These approaches should not be used instead of appropriate medical care. You should always consult your doctor before using any form of self-treatment or complementary or alternative treatment.
EMOTIONAL HONESTY: The success of therapy depends largely on the client’s willingness to be honest with themselves and the therapist about their thoughts, feelings and actions.
DRUGS & ALCOHOL: Please do not attend sessions under the influence of recreational drugs or alcohol as these can numb or alter emotions and reduce the effectiveness of therapy.
CONTACT BETWEEN SESSIONS: To maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries contact between sessions will be limited to arrangements for session dates and times. Longer emails or messages will be read and responded to during session times. Laura Hunter Therapies is not an emergency service. Clients facing an acute crisis should contact their G.P., A & E or a helpline such as the Samaritans as appropriate.
WORKING ONLINE: Please ensure that the environment you are working in is safe, secure and private so as to protect your confidentiality and personal safety. Please also ensure that you have no distractions or more importantly nothing or nobody requiring your attention during the session so children and pets should be accommodated elsewhere and computer programmes and other devices should be turned off.
This contract is compliant with UK law and both parties agree that this service and any issues or disputes arising within it will be administered and resolved in accordance with UK law.
