What Is Your Swimmer's Current Ability Level?
Learn to Swim is where every Ascend swimmer starts, from age 3 up. Small groups, capped numbers, and a technique-first approach, we build correct stroke mechanics from the very first lesson rather than rushing swimmers through levels.Classes run for 45 minutes and progress from water confidence and safety through to all four strokes. Swimmers move up when their technique is ready, not on a set timeline, and your coach will always talk you through it first.💲 PRICINGGroup class (45 min) — $34 per session
Private lesson (1 hour, one-on-one) — $120
Private lessons are available alongside group classes for swimmers who want to move faster, or who'd prefer to build confidence one-on-one before joining a group. Many families run one group class plus a fortnightly private; it's the quickest way to see progress. Times are arranged directly with your coach.📈 Our Level System
Level 1 — Water ConfidenceEntry point for beginners. Submersion, breath control, floating on front and back, and independent kicking with support. Swimmers finish Level 1 comfortable and safe in the water without a parent in the pool.
Level 2 — Freestyle & Backstroke FoundationsUnassisted freestyle and backstroke over short distances, side breathing, and streamline off the wall. Focus is entirely on body position and correct arm mechanics; speed comes later.
Level 3 — Four StrokesBreaststroke and butterfly introduced alongside refinement of freestyle and backstroke. Swimmers develop legal technique in all four strokes, as well as turns and basic dives.
Level 4 — Squad PreparationEndurance building, stroke efficiency over longer distances, tumble turns, racing starts and an introduction to pace work. Swimmers exiting Level 4 are ready to transition into Junior Squad.
✅ Progression is assessed continuously by your coach and based on technique and readiness, never age or time served. We'll always speak with you before moving your swimmer up.
🏊 SQUAD PROGRAMJunior — the step up from Level 4. Stroke correction under load, intro to training sets and the pace clock.Development — increased volume, all four strokes refined, regular club competition.State — targeted state-level preparation, periodised programming, meet-specific taper.National — elite programming with individual season planning.CHOOSE YOUR PATHWAYEvery squad swimmer trains under one of two pathways. This isn't a skill level; it reflects how often your swimmer trains and what they're training for 🔵 FITNESS - ($40) per session, flexible attendance, full technical coaching, competition optional. Ideal for swimmers balancing other sports or school commitments. Best for 1–3 sessions per week. Sessions booked in advance with your coach.🔴 PERFORMANCE — ($225 or $260) per fortnight, unlimited.Every session at your swimmer's level, structured season planning, race strategy and individual time tracking. Best for 4+ sessions per week; the more they train, the lower the per-session cost.💡 Not sure which? Training three times a week or less and racing occasionally → Fitness. Chasing qualifying times or already training four-plus → Performance will cost you less and deliver more. Swimmers can switch pathways at the start of any term.FORM CORRECTION & PRIVATE LESSONS — $120 per hour.One-on-one work for swimmers held back by a specific stroke, start or turn. A single technical fault can cap a swimmer's times for an entire season; an hour of focused work will usually shift it faster than months of squad volume alone. Arrange directly with your coach around training.
