You're a luxury if people don't NEED what you offer (e.g. a massage, a necklace)You're a necessity if people NEED what you offer (e.g. emergency plumbing, mechanic)
How you market these two kinds of offer is very different!
Local means anything up to county level, e.g. you only operate within a 50 mile radius of Bath.
The amount you can invest often determines the strategies you have available to you
High-converting means more than 5% of your website's traffic turns into sales or enquiries.
I.e. are you happy to record selfie-style videos of yourself talking about what you do and getting your face out there?
This might mean hiring a freelancer to record your content for you, for example.
This means a list of names, email addresses and/or phone numbers of past customers or interested parties and express permission to contact them for marketing purposes.
Your best marketing strategy is...
Email marketing
This might mean sending regular offers to your list to encourage repeat sales or asking for reviews and referrals.
You'll be taken to the next screen and asked to give your name, email and phone number. You'll then receive an email sequence designed to teach you the basics!
Building a list
If you don't have a marketing list, now's the time to get one. You could do this by using QR codes to direct people to an opt-in webpage where you ask for their contact info in exchange for special offers, or asking them to subscribe to a monthly newsletter to keep them updated with what you're doing.
GBP
Your Google Business Profile (GBP) is what shows up in Google Maps and if you can get into the 'Map Pack' (the top 3 results), you'll be getting up to 40% of the traffic!
SEO
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process by which websites show up at the top of Google's search results page, thereby getting more traffic and more sales as a result. SEO has long been a staple of digital marketing and can produce returns of 600% or more!
Getting a CRO'd website
Conversion Rate optimisation (CRO) is the process by which a website maximises the number of sales or enquiries it generates. If you can take your website from converting 1% of the traffic to 10% of the traffic, you've straight away 10X'd your revenue. And if you don't already have a website, you're missing out on a key marketing tool!
Google Ads
Google Ads operate on a Pay-Per-Click (PPC) basis, which means they're fairly cost-effective and, assuming you have a properly set up landing page, can see conversions of 40% or higher!
Organic Social
Getting your face out there and telling people what you do in the world's largest marketplaces should be your number 1 priority right now. But you've got to use the right strategies to perform well on social media.
Facebook Ads
Facebook ads are more than boosting posts. They're a very targeted and effective marketing strategy, assuming they're set up right and running a killer offer.
