Welcome To:
Double-Checking Your Visibility on AI Search Engines
🎯 Class Objective
To help contractors verify that their business information, website, and online reputation are properly indexed and visible across major AI-driven search engines — ensuring potential clients and collaborators can easily find and verify your company.
📘 Lesson Summary
AI search engines are changing how people discover contractors. Instead of typing into Google, homeowners now ask tools like ChatGPT, Bing Copilot, and Perplexity for recommendations. If your company isn’t optimized or verified across these AI sources, you may not appear in search results — even if your website looks great. This class walks you through how to confirm your visibility, fix missing business listings, and create the kind of digital footprint that AI engines trust and prioritize.
Video Explanation
Action Items:
Search your business name + city in Google, Bing, and Apple Maps.
Verify that your business name, phone number, and website match across all platforms.
Check your Google Business Profile — ensure photos, hours, and recent posts are active.
Update or claim any old or duplicate listings.
Go to ChatGPT (GPT-4 with browsing) and type:“Who are the top general contractors in [your city]?”“Show me local home builders near [city].”
Repeat in Bing Copilot and Perplexity.ai — note if your company appears or is mentioned.
If missing, check whether your website is crawlable (not blocked by robots.txt) and linked to local directories like Houzz, Yelp, HomeAdvisor, and BBB.
Ask your web admin to install Local Business Schema markup on your website (this tells AI who you are, what you do, and where you’re located).
Ensure your homepage includes:
Full business name and license number
Service areas
Contact information
Clear service descriptions (custom homes, remodels, design-build, etc.)
Add 3–5 local project examples or testimonials using plain text (AI reads text better than images).
Create or update company profiles on:
LinkedIn (Company Page)
Houzz
BBB (Better Business Bureau)
Local Chamber of Commerce
Post one recent project update or article on LinkedIn and your blog — AI tools prefer recent, verifiable content.
Include backlinks between your website and these profiles for better indexing.
Schedule a monthly visibility checks on Google, Bing, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.
Use Google Search Console to monitor website indexing and performance.
Keep a running log inside your Contractor Checklist – Marketing Dashboard with links, screenshots, and ranking notes.
Assign your admin to verify all listings quarterly and flag changes or inconsistencies.
